Introduction
 
The topic of weight loss is at the front of many people’s minds.  Americans are heavier than ever and many feel they need to change, but are unsure of how to go about it.  Some people are lost at the grocery store and have no idea how to identify healthy vs. unhealthy choices.  Many people are not taught how to cook healthy foods before moving out on their own and find themselves at fast food restaurants every night.  They reap a body that looks like they eat fast food every night.  Some people know just a few healthy recipes and find themselves eating junk food out of boredom.  Some people are literally starving themselves to simplify their lives.  They feel that diets are too difficult and they would rather just not eat.  How can you expect to have a healthy body if you are starving yourself?

Healthy foods do not have to be boring and you do not have to (nor should you) starve yourself to be thin.

Some people have gym memberships they keep paying for, but do not use.  Some people have weight loss supplements that they are not taking and others have weight loss shakes that they do not drink.  There are many well-intentioned beginnings to weight loss that are not sustainable for most people.  Some people are unsure of what exercises to do at a gym.  Others started to lose weight by a method that they did not intend to continue for a long period of time.  Perhaps the plan was too extreme or the reality of a liquid diet was unappetizing.  If you diet for one week, but then eat poorly the rest of the year, how can you possibly expect to stay trim?  If you run a marathon one day, but then sit on the couch for a month, how can you expect to stay healthy?
Our fast-paced society does little to nothing to reduce stress.  Employers value the employees that work the fastest and reward them with more work.  Many people work two or even three jobs at once and feel like they are at a breaking point.  So many people need to find a quiet and peaceful way to diffuse their bottled up frustrations.  How can we re-capture our inner joy and tranquility?
We only receive one body and we all need to stay healthy, so it makes sense to find a dietary/exercise plan that is workable for a prolonged period of time.  I believe that there is a need for a healthy and reasonable plan to encourage fitness, weight loss and stress reduction that can be sustained.  People want their weight maintenance and general health to last for years, so why select a plan that promises “20 lbs. of weight loss in a week”, rather than a plan that encourages slow weight loss for years?  We would all benefit from making lifestyle choices that are healthy and reasonable enough to be continued for years. 
This book will introduce you to a plan that I have used myself and have found to be enjoyable, moderate and workable.
